Mary Buckwalter, owner of Beauty Hutch salon, 119 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, is pleased to introduce her newest Cosmetologist, Kaylee Snitchler, 20 of Sterling, IL.
Before she became a Cosmetologist, Snitchler attended Sauk Valley College, Dixon, IL, for 1.5 semesters, studying psychology. Soon, she “knew that was not for” her, and began a career path that was. She completed the 1500-hour Cosmetology course at Educators of Beauty in Sterling and was graduated in early October 2015.
“I wanted to do this,” she stated, since she was a child. Snitchler would “practice on younger girls and friends in my room and on my own hair.” She applies her talents to her “whole family,” including mother, dad, two younger sisters, grandparents, and a Morrison aunt and uncle.
She plans to have a barber friend help her master male haircuts and “fades.”
How did she come to Beauty Hutch? Buckwalter had called Educators of Beauty seeking an employee; the opening was posted on the school bulletin board. Snitchler’s “teacher told me to call Mary,” which she did, on Wednesday, September 2. Her first day as a Cosmetologist was Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11.
It began with an imposing task–coloring her employer’s hair! However, she was not nervous, she said. “I actually, really like [coloring hair.] That’s one of my favorite things to do.” By 1:30 p.m., she had made an appointment for a friend who needed “to go blond. I like doing the crazy colors–pinks, blues, and purples.”
Beauty Hutch is a multi-dimensional salon. Snitchler will serve the general public–children, adults, males, and females. She also looks forward to holiday pampering and spring Prom hairdos for teens.
Her starting hours begin on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.; Thursday at noon; Saturday at 11:00 into the evening. Call 815-772-2745 to arrange an appointment.
Not all cosmetologists offer updo’s and elegant hair styling for proms or weddings, as does Kaylee Snitcher. “I do like to do those!” She offers these services to her clients:
- haircuts; fringe/beard trims
- shampoos
- styles and updo’s
- coloring; highlights/lowlights with foils
- deep conditioning hair treatments
- color correction
- perms
- paraffin dips
- manicures/pedicures
- facial waxing hair removal
- adding hair extensions.
Long extensions give her a luxurious hairdo, using a “new technique.” She puts her extensions into a pony tail for a casual look. “They clip in and out every night,” she noted. “Attached, taped ones can last three months.”
Buckwalter created a special incentive to assist her new employee in building a client base. She offers a free hair coloring after five purchased treatments. Only Kaylee can offer the punch card option.
The expanded Beauty Hutch team is available to male and female clients of any age. Call 815-772-2745 to schedule an appointment with, left-to-right, Kathy Polson, Mary Buckwalter, Kaylee Snitchler, or Rachel Wiersema. Wiersema is the nail specialist.
