Barton L. Hoogheem, 53, of Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at home as a result of an accident.
Barton was born August 14, 1962, in Sycamore, IL, to Arnold and Lorraine (Buelow) Hoogheem. He was a graduate of Fulton High School and attended Clinton Community College in Clinton, IA. He then graduated from Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL, with honors. Bart was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He married Dorothy DesouzaGuedes in 1990. He was first employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a brakeman. He later was self-employed as a carpenter and jack-of-all-trades. Bart was extremely proud of being a veteran and participated in many military celebrations.
Survivors include one son, Connor Hoogheem of Ankeny, IA; two brothers, Craig (Cindy) Hoogheem of Morrison, IL ,and Steve (Terri) Hoogheem of Clinton; stepfather, Donald C. Weidman of Mt. Carroll, IL; four stepsisters, Julie (Bob) Zuidema of Morrison, IL, Donna (Paul) Parker of Fulton, IL, Lorrie (Tom) Hartman of Fulton, and Barb (Kevin) Reibel of Savanna, IL; one stepbrother, Doug Weidman of Mt. Carroll; a special friend, Annie Deck of Prophetstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
