Bart and Ellen Smith, owners and operators of DQ Grill & Chill, 200 N. Sawyer Road, Morrison, IL, celebrated two decades of their business enterprise, on Sunday, July 1, 2018. At a meeting on Saturday, August 4, they gathered with their staff after an extensive remodel in July.
Ellen remarked, “We have reinvested in Morrison for another 20 years, to serve Morrison. I promised when I got this business, I would give back to the City. I will try to continue that.”
Like so many remodels, a major effort began with one appliance that needed a motor repair. Instead, a new cooler was purchased. On Tuesday, July 31, Bart replaced the unit; on Wednesday, August 1, he put the new cooler together. That was only part of the task.
The photos below, respectively, show removal of the old cooler, using a crane, and the ramp needed to install the new one.
“Every freezer and all the machines have been replaced,” Ellen stated. The “the walk-in freezer, two more, smaller cook’s freezers, and all new equipment” have been installed.”
Drywall had to be installed to house the freezer.
A major business upgrade by Bart and Ellen Smith is a tribute to their commitment of service and enterprise. Morrison residents and those who travel through are fortunate to have such caring merchants in place for years–decades–to come.
