Barry L. McDonald, 64, died Monday, August 12, 2019, at his home in Phoenix, AZ.
Barry was born on August 17, 1954, in Morrison, IL, to Lyle and Marjorie (Kuehl) McDonald. He was educated in the Morrison schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from Southern IL University. Many hours were spent water skiing on the Mississippi River as a child, and later he enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, and golfing. After graduating college, Barry worked in Information Technology in Chicago, IL, specializing in large data storage solutions; he later moved to Phoenix and worked for IBM. After several years in Phoenix, he relocated to Illinois. Barry continued with IBM and, later, as an IT consultant for John Deere, before his retirement. He dedicated a significant amount of his time studying the Bible. He was a valued part of his parents’ support system, helping to care for Marjorie and Lyle in their later years.
Survivors include his brother, Michael (Connie) McDonald of Columbus, OH; two nephews, Colin and Benjamin (Allison) McDonald; great-niece and nephew, Cornelia and Fletcher; aunt and uncle, Beth and Lester Renkes; many cousins.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Harvey and Orville Kuehl, Merle, Carrol, and Burnell McDonald; aunts, Ruth Reed, Gladys Glassburn, Verda Sweet, and Dorothy Wirth.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A short memorial visitation will precede the service, from 10:30 a.m., until the time of the service.
