Barbara J. Wessels, 79, of Windsor Manor in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.
Barbara was born July 21, 1938, in Clinton, IA, to Charles and Mary (Radziewicz) Waterman . She was educated in the St. Mary’s grade and high schools in Clinton. Barb married Dale R. Wessels on May 11, 1959, in Kahoka, MO. He died July 29, 1998. Barb was employed by the former A. C. Nielsen Company and Medical Associates both in Clinton. She was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. She volunteered at Bargain Bonanza in Clinton and enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and traveling.
Survivors include daughter, Jill (Jim) Balk of Garrison, IA; son-in-law, Scott Dopson of Albany, IL; daughter-in-law, Nita Wessels of Rutherfordton, NC; six grandchildren, Melissa (Joel) DeJong, Candice (Ken) Jager, Kelsey (A. C.) Collier, James Balk, Ryan (Angela) Wessels, and Elizabeth (Adam) Milligan; three step-grandchildren, Jennee Iden, Raymond Lacey, and James Lacey; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; sister, Debbie Trine of Burlington, IA; sister-in-law, Jean Waterman of De Witt, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; daughter, Julie Dopson; son, Charles “Charlie” Wessels; granddaughter, Stephanie Balk; brother, Richard “Dick” Waterman.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, with Rev. Kevin VerHoeven officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
Memorials have been established to Unity Christian School and Windsor Manor.
