Please join Morrison Chamber of Commerce for the Second Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 13, 2016. This free family event will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue, Morrison, IL. From IL Route 78, turn west onto Tech Drive, beside Co-Z Corner Convenience Store. Park in the north lots, and enter the Administration Building with the white pillars.
What will happen?
Chamber members feature booths with hands-on activities and games for kids. There are balloon animals. Names will be drawn for 112 backpacks filled with school supplies. Weather permitting, outside are bounce houses, ambulance tours, and an activity with Morrison Parks and Recreation Department. This community event will be held rain or shine.
How does the event work?
- Upon registration, each family will be given a “Back to School” Card. Visit each of the booths and have the card marked. When filled entirely, return it to the registration table. The card will enter the family for a drawing of gift cards from local businesses. A registered adult must be present to win.
- At registration, each child will fill out a registration ticket and deposit it into the appropriate container. This enters the child in the drawing for one of 112 backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as the Children’s Grand Prizes. Children must be present to win.
Children’s Grand Prizes include a
- Limo Ride and Lunch at DQ Grill & Chill, for winner and four friends, donated by R. C. Smith Transportation/Scenic Stage Line and DQ Grill & Chill
- Family Fun Pack for Four to the Whiteside County Fair, including two Megabands, donated by U. S. Cellular.
Chamber “Break the Bank” raffle tickets will be for sale during the event; the cost is one for $1, or six for $5. At 4:00, three adult names will be drawn for cash prizes. Winners will select, and break open, a pig to discover their prize: $50; $150; or a 50-50 split with the raffle proceeds (currently over $400.) Winners need not be present to win.
Raffle proceeds benefit the Chamber’s community projects and events.
