Dr. B. J. Wolf, 65, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at his home.BJ Wolf

He was born on November 26, 1948, in Sterling, IL, the son of Robert and Vina (Pollock) Wolf. He was a graduate of Crystal Lake High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.  He continued his education with a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, his Educational Specialist Degree from Northern Illinois University, and his Doctorate in Education from Northern Illinois University. He married the former Sue C. Gibson on January 23, 1969, in Bloomington, IL. Dr. Wolf began his career in education at Amboy High School, then Sterling High School as a teacher, and continued onto Manlius Schools as a school principal. Later he returned to Sterling schools as a principal and then as Assistant Superintendent of Unit 5 schools. He was then appointed Superintendent of Rock Falls High School and eventually retired. Educating the children was very dear to his heart.

Dr. Wolf was a member of the board of the Open Sesame Day Care, Sterling School Board of Education, Sauk Valley Community College Board of Trustees, Sauk Valley Community College Foundation Board, the CGH Medical Center Finance and Planning Committee, the Sterling-Rock Falls Community Trust, Illinois Association of School Administrators, the Rock Falls Community Development Corporation, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission.

Surviving are his wife, Sue; their son, Ben (Alisa) Wolf of Morrison, IL; his father, Robert N. Wolf of Mount Morris, IL; his sister, Gerry Harrington of Sterling; his grandson, Brady Wolf.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vina Wolf.

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014, at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls, IL

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2014, at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue,  Rock Falls, IL

Interment:  Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, IL

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to “Love on a Leash” through CGH Medical Center or to Gaffey Hospice.
