Fillies Drop Regional Final

The Morrison, IL, High School Fillies had to make a 95-mile journey and play the second game in the basketball Regional opening night, at North Boone District #200, in Poplar Grove, IL.  The young women came home late on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, with a tough win over #8 seeded

Following the Tuesday, February 2, 2016, upset of 9th ranked Newman, the Morrison Mustangs took the floor Friday, February 5.  The Boy’s Basketball team picked up the offense where they left off on Tuesday, en route to a 66-44 stampede over the Bureau Valley Storm.

Mustangs Surprise the Comets

The Morrison Mustangs limped into Sterling, IL, to take on the 9th ranked 2A Newman Comets, with two starters unavailable for action.  Jumping out to a 5-0 lead and surviving the first quarter with a 14-13 lead, the Mustangs realized that they could play with the Comets.

The final home game for the Morrrison High School Fillies didn’t end as hoped.  The neighboring Fulton, IL, Steamers stymied the Fillies in the final quarter, to take home a 48-40 victory. Golden Eagles Corral Mustangs

The Morrison Mustangs climbed on their bus and traveled to Mercer County on Saturday, January 23, 2016, to battle the Golden Eagles in a non-Conference matchup.  The Morrison High School team came home with a 62-44 non-Conference defeat.

Late Three Lifts Mustangs

Friday night, January 23, 2016, at Morrison High School was the perfect example of what high school sports is all about.  Arch rival Riverdale came to visit.  The scene was set:  great crowd, energetic environment, equally competitive teams, entertaining contest between halves, and TV stations filming.  This was a game
