Morrison Historical Society Board of Trustees will host Mary Beth Dombroski, Morrison, IL, presenting a “History of the Whiteside County Fair,” on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Doors open at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, at 1:00 p.m., for the 1:30 program. Parking is available at the rear of the building; a ramp makes the entrance accessible to all.
There is no fee to attend the first MHS program since January 2020. Enjoy new and permanent Fair displays, air conditioning, and light refreshments in the Hearth Room. The Board looks forward to seeing visitors at the Museum again. Masks are suggested.
For many years Dombroski was an officer of the Whiteside Co. Central Agricultural Society and served as Fair Secretary. This year is the Sesquicentennial Fair, begun in 1870, but it’s actual 150th anniversary year would have been 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns necessitated postponing the major, five day event.
The Whiteside County Fair runs Tuesday, August 17, through Saturday, August 21. Visit www.whitesidecountyfair.org for a schedule, registration and entry information, and to purchase tickets and midway MegaBands.
Open Museum hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a Docent on site to offer information. Call 815-772-8889 to arrange a tour on another day or with questions. Kindly leave a message.
