Charges listed below are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 8/28/14 at about 5:49 a.m., Whiteside County Deputies responded to a vehicle crash on Freeport and Pilgrim Roads, rural Sterling, IL. Investigation revealed a 2009 Kia driven by Jennifer M. Duncan, 32, of Milledgeville, IL, was traveling southbound on Freeport Road and disobeyed the stop sign. Her vehicle collided with a westbound 2012 Ford F550 driven by Ben A. Mattingley, 54, of Leaf River, IL. The Kia entered the north ditch of Pilgrim Road, and the Ford entered the north ditch and collided with a tree head-on. Duncan was taken to CGH Medical Center by Ambulance for her injuries. Mattingly and his passenger, Jeremy S. Lower, 33, of Leaf River, were not injured. The crash remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by the Sterling Fire Department, CGH Medical Services, and Slim-N-Hank’s towing.
On 8/28/14 at 4 p.m. Jason J. Bardoner, 41, of Sterling, IL, was arrested at the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office for Domestic Battery, Reckless Conduct, and Endangering the Life/Health of a Child. He was held in the Whiteside County Jail in lieu of bond.
