On Saturday, August 22, 2015, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic crash, west of Rock Falls, IL, on Prophet Road. At approximately 9:30 a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Nicole E. Vandevelde was traveling eastbound, when her vehicle left the roadway near a curve and entered the ditch, overturning several times and ejecting her from the vehicle. Vandevelde was pronounced dead at the scent by Coroner Joe McDonald. Tampico, IL, Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene and assisted Deputies with the crash.
