The 2:00 p.m. winner of a Bicycle Giveaway was fifth grader Marissa Folkers, age ten from Morrison, IL. She might look familiar, because this is the third time she has won a Fair bicycle! Her previous wins were in 2012 and 2013. Sister Megan, almost seven, gets the hand-me-down bikes. Marissa lives on a quarter-mile lane and rides to get the mail. Ironically, this bike was a donation by her parents, who own Five Star Enterprises of Morrison.
Cornerstone Insurance Agency of Morrison, IL, donated the final bike. The 6:00 recipient was Morrison second grader Bridgette Kennedy. She is seven. Like several youngsters, Bridgette has a bicycle, but hers “needs the chain to be oiled,” she said. Where will she ride? “Her grandparents are out in the middle of nowhere,” commented an adult.
Fair Board Publicity Chair Todd Mickley submitted Whiteside County Fair winners in Elections; Open Beef; Open Culinary; Pedal Pulls; Truck and Tractor Pulls. All towns are in Illinois unless noted.

Four members of the Whiteside County Fair Board of Directors were elected to three-year terms Saturday, August 22, 2015, the final day of this year’s annual five-day run. They were elected by ballots cast by exhibitors and season-ticket holders.
