24-26 / SATURDAY DEMO DERBY
Tyler Bielema earned the evening’s top prize of $2000 from the Open Wire Full Size heat, at the Demolition Derby, Saturday, August 17, 2024. Extreme Derby Promotions, headed by Rob Mahnesmith of Chillicothe, IL, and his skilled crew, orchestrated their sixth event during the 153rd Whiteside County Fair. Grandstand seats were nearly sold out; bleachers were overflowing; fans resorted to sitting or standing atop two, massive, bulldozed piles of dirt.
Prior to the first heat, 19 children ages three-to-nine competed in the Power Wheels division. Paisley Jenkens of Belvediere, IL, received the first place trophy and t-shirt; second place received a shirt. Then, Danielle Decker sang the National Anthem.
Shiny hardware and money went to the top five placings in four heats, with the respective chosen “Xtreme Drivers.” Photos by thecity1.com include the first place and Extreme Driver from each heat.
