On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the third free bicycle was awarded to Joseph Gallegos, of Morrison, IL. The eight-year-old third grader attends Southside School. He will ride his new bicycle on the neighborhood street and driveway. Scout Clean Energy is the sponsor.
This year, Macy Williamson originated the idea of mini-murals for the Secretary’s Office counters. She sought Fair Board permission for her project. It is a colorful backdrop for photographs of bicycle winners. Williamson is a Junior at Coe College, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
WHOA (White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center) offers classes in horse care and riding at the fairgrounds, for those with special needs. Volunteers attended the General Store outside the north end of the grandstand. On August 15, they included Deb and Rick Beckstrom; Julie Bielema; Chris Buis; Drew and Jane Hoffman; Terry Klimstra.
