The Editor discovered a young man juggling in an open spot behind the pony ride; that led to an impromptu interview. Seventh grader Roman Liebel, 13, lives in Davenport, FL. “At about age nine,” Liebel taught himself “to juggle rings, clubs, balls, anything, [even] tennis rackets!” He performs in circuses in Florida, but he is not “booked” to perform at the Whiteside County Fair. Visitors might find Liebel practicing his skill while here.
The second child to win a free bicycle during the 2019 Whiteside County Fair was Campbell Buikema, 13, an eighth grader in Morrison, IL. Campbell’s parents are Jason and Domini Buikema. Hailey has a proper bicycle, but will “give it to one of my family members” (sisters or cousins.) She could ride it to Morrison Junior High School. She has a no bike helmet. Fair Board member, in charge of Sponsorships, and Campbell’s uncle, Jon Brackemyer, attended the presentation. The generous donor was Farmers National Bank of Morrison.
Winners are listed for Open Agricultural Products, Junior Hobbies, Open Hobbies, Junior Swine, Open Swine, Junior Culinary, and Junior Floriculture.
