Editor’s note: IRTA represents 38,300 retired teachers and their families. It is the sole watchdog for retired teachers in the Illinois Legislature.
Monday, August 13, 2018, is Retired Educators’ Day in Illinois. Thank a retired teacher for making your public-school experience great. Post it to social media with the hashtag #retirededucatorsday. A hashtag is a label for content. It is useful to keep relevant topics together and easily searchable.
August 13 is Senior Day at the Illinois State Fair, and admission is free to anyone older than 60. Retired teachers across Illinois will be in the spotlight on Retired Educators’ Day, as students, parents, school administrators, and the general public take a moment to appreciate public school educators in Illinois.
For Retired Educators’ Day on August 13, members of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) from throughout the state will be attending the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. “Gathering together in Springfield is an opportunity for us to reminisce about our great teaching experience and share why we love this state and its students so much,” (IRTA) President Roger Hampton said. “I challenge the community to remember and advocate for their retired teachers and to actively support the work they do.”
“Few other professionals shape people like educators,” Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) President Roger Hampton said. “Retired Educators’ Day is the perfect time to reflect upon the contributions teachers made in the lives we all live today. It is time for teachers, who were role models for former students now emerging as positive influences and leaders in our state, to be recognized.”
