Auditions for The Black Box Theatre Season

Auditions for The Black Box Theatre’s new season will take place at the theatre, 1623 Fifth Avenue, Moline, IL, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from noon to 2:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Black Box Artistic Director Lora Adams says, “We are delighted to be presenting a season of premieres to our area.  As always, our season is open to everyone.”

Auditionees for musicals should audition on Saturday and bring music in their key.  Be prepared to read from sides that will be provided at the audition.  Please bring a photo and resume stapled together.  Also, bring any known conflicts (vacations, etc.) during rehearsal and performance dates.

The Stranger by Agatha Christie (performed as a Radio Play)–Note:  We are most interested in the sound of your voice.  Doris West late 20s-to-mid 30s; Mrs. Huggins middle-aged female; Enid Bradshaw late 20s-to-mid-30s; Gerald Strange late 20s-to-mid-30s; Dick Lane late 20s-to-mid-30s; Mrs. Birch middle-aged female.

Ordinary Days music and lyrics by Adam Gwon–Multi-cultural casting.  Warren 20s; Deb 20s; Jason 30s; Claire 30s.

Fun Home based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir–Multi-cultural casting.  Music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron.  Four women; two men; two girls; one boy.

The Half Life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson–Mild European accents needed, as characters have lived all over the Continent.  Women in late 30s-to-mid-50s.

The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse–Characters are in their 20s-to-30s, ethnically ambiguous.  Logan female; Jaxton male; Caden male; Alicia female.

The Lion in Winter by James Goldman–Henry II, King of England, male, 50; Queen Eleanor, female, 61; John, male, 16; Geoffrey, male, 25; Richard, male, 26; Alais Capet, female, 23; Philip II, King of France, male, 18.
