Astronauts to Speak at Savanna High School

SpaceShuttleChallengerHave you ever thought about what it would be like to be an Astronaut? or pondered what it would be like to experience zero gravity? or watched in amazement at a Shuttle lift-off and wondered how it would feel to be launched into space?

Most of us probably have given some thought to these or similar questions at one time or another.  How many of us ever get the chance to see and speak with an Astronaut, who actually has experienced those wonders first-hand?

Two former NASA Astronauts and colleagues of Dale Gardner will put on a program at the West Carroll High School, Savanna, IL, on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.  It is titled “Being an Astronaut.” The program will focus on “everything you always wanted to ask an Astronaut.”

Robert L. Stewart (Brigadier General, USA, Ret.), former NASA Astronaut, and Daniel C. Brandenstein (Captain, USN, Ret.), also a former NASA Astronaut, will join Gary Metivier, anchor of the KWQC News team and Emmy award-winning newscaster, who will serve as the program moderator for a fun, interesting, and memorable program.

The program will predominantly be a question-and-answer format with short video and photographic clips throughout, showing astronauts at work.  Interested persons may submit questions for the astronauts prior to the program, by email at dengaldo@yahoo.com.  Questions will also be taken live from the audience.  After the program there will be an opportunity after for more questions, autographs, and personal interaction with the Astronauts and moderator Metivier.

Following the Astronaut program at 12:30 p.m., the Colt Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, IA, will conduct a performance on the athletic field, at West Carroll High School.

Don’t miss this fun, interesting, and unique experience; it will be great exposure for the children and grandchildren.
