Ashley Imel, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the 3rd Floor Medical Unit, was recently recognized as a recipient of the Sunshine Award for extraordinary service. The Sunshine Award was created to honor and recognize outstanding service and compassionate care, by those in non-Nursing roles, such as CNAs, CMTs, or MAs.
“Ashley is always polite and professional,” said Megan Hummel, RN, Sunshine Award Coordinator, as she read the award nomination. “She speaks to all patients with a sweet, loving voice; informs patients of what she is doing before touching them; never gets frustrated with very impulsive patients. She gives multiple patients baths at night and engages in conversation in such a way that you would think she was taking care of a family member. Besides bathing patients, Ashley makes sure the trash and linen bins are emptied for the next shift. She is a very valuable team member for the unit. She also communicates well with Nurses and coworkers, always asking if we need help. Ashley deserves to be awarded the Sunshine Award, because she is truly a ray of sunshine to our unit.”
