Two of Ashford University’s music groups will present their Spring Concerts on Sunday, April 26, 2015, in room C3600 of St. Clare Hall, on the University’s Clinton, Iowa campus located at 400 North Bluff Blvd, Clinton, IA, 52732. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the Ashford Concert Choir will perform music from four centuries, including works by Heinrich Schütz, William Billings, Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, David Brunner, and Harold Arlen. Under the direction of Dr. Rob Engelson, the performance will feature a mix of folk songs and spirituals.
At 3:00 p.m., the Ashford University Wind Ensemble, directed by Steve Little, will perform Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite for Military Band in F”; excerpts from Stevie Wonder’s “Songs In the Key Of Life”; Henry Fillmore’s “Noble Men March”; “The March Past of the Kitchen Utensils” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and an oboe solo by Anna Olson, “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Rimsky-Korsakov. Both concerts are open to the public and admission is free.
