Arthur Scott, Jr., 82, of Sterling, IL, died Friday January 11, 2019, at his home.
Arthur was born July 9, 1936, and grew up on the family farm in Galt, IL, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (Morse) Scott, Sr. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp. He married Janet Walker on May 4, 1957, in Rock Falls, IL. Arthur spent many years on the road as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Company. He loved his garden and restoring furniture. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula Scott of Sterling; one son, Alan (Laura) Scott of Depue, IL; three brothers, Jerry (Priscilla) Scott of Morrison, IL, Wayne (Gerry) Scott of Redding, CA, and Gary (Wendy) Scott of Lyndon, IL; one sister, Joyce Breedon of Maypearl, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dale and Brian Scott in infancy; two brothers, Neal Scott and Robert Scott.
Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL, with Merle Heckman officiating.
Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation is handling arrangements.
A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
