Arnold W. Popkin, 90, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Allure of Mount Carroll in Mount Carroll, IL.
Arnold was born May 30, 1931, in Morrison, to John and Louise (Rosenow) Popkin. He attended rural Whiteside County grade schools. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Arnold married Virginia A. Johnson on July 26, 1958, in Morrison. She died on April 10, 2016. He worked for Herman Nelson and J. A. Bulls and Son and farmed his entire life. He was a former member of Morrison United Methodist Church. Arnold was also a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau and of American Legion in Morrison. Arnold enjoyed gardening, especially his clematis flowers, and spending his mornings visiting and drinking coffee at Hardee’s and Shell in Morrison. He cherished his waffle dates with his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Kay Warrner of Kewanee, IL; son, David Popkin of Fulton, IL; grandson, Josh (Abby) Warrner of Petersburg, IL; great-grandchildren, Chase, Raymond, Reed, and Louise Warrner; sister, Nancy (Joe) McCallister of Rock Falls, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; brothers, John, Alvin, Raymond, and Vernon Popkin; sister, Betty Harridge; great-grandaughter, Lyla Warrner.
Private Family Services will be held at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Selburg officiating.
The public will be invited to attend a Celebration of Life that will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at King Pins Saloon and Dance Hall in Fulton, IL.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Memorials have been established to BrightFocus Foundation, to support Glaucoma or Macular Degeneration research.
