Earlier this morning, Friday, August 9, 2013, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Morrison Police responded to Casey’s General Store, 602 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, for a Robbery in progress. Morrison Police responded immediately, but the suspect had left. During the investigation, Morrison Police learned that a single, male suspect entered Casey’s wearing a hooded jacket, mask, and socks on his hands. The suspect had a brief confrontation with a Casey’s employee just inside the door and walked behind the counter toward the cash register. The suspect then displayed a knife and forced the employee to open the cash register. The suspect removed the entire cash drawer with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
At approximately 8:12 a.m. Morrison Police arrested Tyler R. Engelkins, age 26 of Morrison, charging Engelkins with Armed Robbery. Engelkins was transported to the Whiteside County Jail.
The Morrison Police were assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation continues.
