Ardythe A. Rice, 89, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Ardythe was born June 16, 1929, in Sterling, IL, to Arthur and Hazel (McCune) James. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married William C. Rice on May 2, 1948, in Morrison. He died October 12, 2012. Ardie worked in the cafeteria as a cook at Morrison High School for 19 years. She loved gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include six grandchildren, Nathan Todd, Carrie (Doug) McCarty, Dana (William) Thomas, William (Chastidy) Rice, Jessica Waddell, and Michelle Chatman; nine great-grandchildren, Damien Winstead, Mia Waddell, Isaac Todd, Tae’lynn Todd, Taryn McCarty, Jalyn McCary, Zoey Thomas, Alleigh Rice, and Grant Rice; and one son-in-law, Steve Todd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; one daughter, Jamie Todd; one son, William A. Rice; two sisters, Carmen Dykema and Muriel “Pat” Wagenecht; one brother, Robert James.
A graveside service will be held at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at Heaton Cemetery in Morrison, IL, with Ken Renkes officiating. The location is on the south side of Ward Road, which is one road north of Holly Road, between Bishop and Lyndon Roads.
There will be no funeral service or visitation.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
