Ardith R. “Arkie” Zuidema (1939 – 2020)

ardith zuidemaArdith R. “Arkie” Zuidema, 80, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Harbor Crest Home in Fulton.

Ardith was born July 28, 1939, in Clinton, IA, to Jacob H. and Gertrude (Hoogheem) Norman.  She was educated in the Fulton grade schools and attended Fulton High School.  Ardith married Robert E. Zuidema, Sr. on December 8, 1956, in Fulton.  He died April 27, 2018.  Arkie worked as a home care provider for many years.  She was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton.

Survivors include daughters, Rebecca (Shane Stoecker) Chadwick and Leota (Scott) Schipper both of Fulton; sons, Bob (Julie) Zuidema of Morrison, IL, and Jake (Debbie) Zuidema of Savannah, MO; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Norman of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; one son in infancy; sisters, Lois Bush, LaVonne Dykema, Eunice Leibert, Leota Norman, and Mary Ann Temple; brother, Gerald “Jocko” Norman.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton, IL, with Ken Renkes officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2020, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.

A memorial to Harbor Crest Home has been established.
