From Monday, April 15, through Monday, April 29, 2019, people around the world were allowed to cast one vote to name a pair of eaglets born at Arconic Works in Davenport, IA. There was no robo-voting this year. “Hundreds and hundreds” of name pairs were submitted, and five combinations were chosen for voter consideration:
- Windy and Storm
- Challenger and Endeavor
- River and Patriot
- Courage and Valor
- Stellar and Twilight.
During past robo-voting, “millions of votes were cast. This month, a little over 2000 votes” were cast, and the winning names drew “40% of the vote.”
With an homage to bitter weather this late winter and spring, the most popular pair of names was Windy and Storm.
Recent flooding sabbotaged the nest cameras, so there currently is no live feed available. Check occasionally to see if viewing has resumed. This is how the eaglets looked on Tuesday, April 23.
