windmillMembers of surrounding communities and locals are invited to the Grand Opening of Morrison’s Heritage Museum, on Sunday, April 29, 2018.  Doors open at 1:00 p.m.  The museum is located at 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.

Judith Holesinger, Fulton, IL, will provide the program at 1:30, sharing her passion for grist mills around the world.  For more than a decade, Holesinger has been a Miller at de Immigrant, the authentic Dutch windmill in Fulton, shown at left.  She taught Middle School for five years; took an 18-year leave to raise her family; completed her teaching of Chemistry and Physics at Fulton High School.

Holesinger helps plan monthly programs of various topics of interest at the Windmill Cultural Center.  After construction of de Immigrant in 2008-2009, Holesinger became involved in development of an education curriculum for children at the windmill.  This led her to the Netherlands, on European cultural exchange trips.

She will share information about grist mills near and far.

Refreshments will be served, including two flavors of imported Dutch windmill cookies called Speculaas.

Morrison’s Heritage Museum is accessible to all, with a ramp entrance at the back of the building.  Groups are invited to hold meetings at the museum.

Open days are 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday and by appointment.  Call 815-772-8889 to leave a message, or call Harvey Zuidema at 815-772 3084.
