The Whiteside Forum will complete their 2018-2019 season by hosting Dr. Duk Kim of St. Ambrose University, on Thursday April 25, 2019, starting at 6:30 p.m. He will speak to us and answer questions about current relations between the U. S., North Korea, and South Korea.
Professor Kim is a native of South Korea. He emigrated to the U. S. in 1990; received his PhD from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, MO; teaches Political Science and Leadership Studies; is an expert on Korean politics, East Asian Affairs, and United Nations peace operations.
This event will be held at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL. All programs by The Whiteside Forum are free and open to the public.
Dr. Kim is now a naturalized U.S. citizen, but his mother still lives in South Korea. He leads his St. Ambrose students every other year to his homeland and Japan, for a Study Abroad program. Dr. Kim is also the current President of the World Affairs Council of the Quad Cities.
For the 2017-18 academic year, Dr. Kim was named Faculty Member of the Year.
He served as coordinator of the 2018 College of Arts and Sciences theme of Faces of Globalization. Events included numerous lectures, music concerts, theater performances, conferences, academic programs, and forums. The year-long theme highlighted differences, as a way to more clearly understand the various aspects of globalization for the campus community
