April Fool’s Day 2025, was taken literally by this jolly voter, Jerry Scott, at one-of-two Mt. Pleasant precincts, in the City of Morrison Community Room, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL. The Consolidated Election on Tuesday, April 1, also included Clyde residents.
All 60 County precincts responded with votes; however only 18% of the County’s 37,881 Registered Voters participated. Four are shown below.
A Whiteside County Public Safety Tax Referendum sought approval to increase the tax rate by one-half of a percent ($0.05). It was approved with 6574 total votes counted: YES 3667 (55.78%); NO 2907 44.22%.
Sheriff John Booker stated, “The [increased] tax funds will cover salaries and benefits [for hiring] 16-to-18 Dispatchers. That is about $2 million–which Whiteside County Cities will not have to fund. We [then] will have plenty of Dispatchers; we have 3-4 working at a time. They do an outstanding job, and we are lucky! Purchases by passers-through the County, who stop for a cup of coffee, now will be helping pay [those costs.] The new 911 Center is built, and equipment is there.”
