Applicants for Honor Flights are processed on a first-come first-serve basis. Priority is given to WWII, then Korean War, veterans. Therefore, Vietnam veterans get scheduled after them. Priority is also given to veterans with a terminal illness.
There is no way to predict which flight you may be on. It could take one-to-two years or more to get a flight. It depends on the number of applicants on file and how many flights are scheduled per year. Flights have to be coordinated with other Honor Flights from around the Nation.
Visit http://www.honorflightqc.org for applications and other information.
Keep track of to whom you gave or sent your application. Do not call the Honor Flight Hub.
I shall do my best to assist you if you call me, Gary M. Farral, Whiteside County Honor Flight Committee Chairman, at 309-659-2628 or 815-441-7128.
Viet Nam applicants must attach a copy of their DD 214 with their application.
