Angelo’s Pizzerias Decked Out In Pink for October

Posted by

AngelosPizzariaFor the second year, all four Angelo’s Pizzeria locations in Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon, IL, have been promoting, and raising funds for, breast cancer awareness during the month of October.  Last year their efforts yielded $16,230 from their promise to donate $1 for every pizza sold.  All proceeds were given to the CGH Health Foundation Women’s Health Program, to benefit the women of the Sauk Valley.

Breast health informational displays are set up at all locations through Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  Monthly breast exams, getting a mammogram, and seeing your medical professional are key to early detection.

Angelo’s has been a part of the Sterling/Rock Falls communities since the mid-1950’s.  The employees wear special, pink t-shirts throughout the month.  “Our goal this year is to beat last year’s donation,” said Michelle Hodge, Operations Manager.  “We…started promoting it via Facebook, table tents, and our electronic signs.  Angelo’s donates to many causes, but this cause is near and dear to our hearts.”

The CGH Health Foundation has been devoted to raising awareness about early detection of breast cancer for almost three decades, according to Joan Hermes, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “We are thrilled and humbled that Angelo’s has chosen to partner with us in this important cause.  Since 1993, we have provided free mammograms and Pap tests for the under-served women in our area communities.  This past summer we began partnering with CGH Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging Center staff, to help fund no-cost screening mammograms for all of our patients, regardless of a women’s ability to pay.”

“We also provide pamper bags for our newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients, which includes a camisole for post-surgery,” said Hermes.  “In addition, hot meals are funded for our cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and other comfort bags are given to cancer patients who need a boost.”

This new partnership should remove any obstacles that might exist for women to seek a mammogram in the CGH five-county service area.  Call 815-625-0400, extension 5550 to schedule a screening mammogram.

Some 25,000 children and adults in the Sauk Valley were impacted last year with donations from businesses, clubs, churches, and individuals.  The collective generosity of donors allows CGH to reach into area communities in a profound way.
