Angelo’s Pizzeria Repeats Pink Pizza Promotion

Posted by

AngelosPizzariaWith the help of pizza-loving folks throughout the Sauk Valley, four Angelo’s Pizzeria restaurants combined their well-known pizza products with a PINK purpose, this past October 2018.  The restaurants raised $17,957 for the CGH Health Foundation Women’s Health Program.  For each pizza purchased during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, $1 was donated.  Many thanks to Angelo’s and the Wright Family for hosting the second annual benefit, on behalf of the women of the Sauk Valley!

Locations in Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon, IL, took part in the promotion.  Employees wore special pink t-shirts that were also sold to patrons.  Last year, their efforts yielded $16,230.  Angelo’s has been a part of the Sterling/Rock Falls communities since the mid-1950’s. They are a popular spot after sporting activities and for birthdays or other special events.

“Angelo’s donates to many causes, but this cause is near and dear to our hearts,” said Michelle Hodge, Operations Manager of Angelo’s.  “So many people shared their stories with us at the restaurants, about loved ones that have dealt with breast cancer.  We want to make sure that local women in need can have access to mammograms and other tests.”

The amazing contribution was presented recently by staff members, left-to-right, Tara Walker, Celia Meyer, Hodge, and Danielle Dempsey.  Accepting the gift is Joan Hermes, center, CGH Health Foundation Executive Director.

The CGH Health Foundation has been devoted to raising awareness about early detection of breast cancer for almost three decades.  “We have also provided funding for breast health services for thousands of under-served women in our service area,” according to Hermes, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “We are so very grateful to Angelo’s for partnering with us.  This past summer we began partnering with CGH Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging Center, to help fund no-cost screening mammograms for all of our patients, regardless of a woman’s ability to pay.”

Some 25,000 children and adults in the Sauk Valley were impacted last year with donations from businesses, clubs, churches, and individuals.  The collective generosity of donors allows CGH to reach into area communities in a profound way.
