Andresen Nature Center, 409 N. 4th Street, Fulton, IL, celebrates Fall Festival on Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days. Park downtown and ride the free shuttle to the Center entrance. Andresen Nature Center shares its outdoor space, with deer, turkeys, birds, and bees.
The Center rescued an abandoned bee hive and its queen. View the new colony with microscopic peeks on computer. Director Kyle Kopf showed Girl Scouts a tray of amber honey; later they tasted it.
For youngsters and adults, Andresen will provide entertaining activities. This year’s theme is “Spiders,” and includes a display of arachnids; a spider storybook trial; a walk-through, string, spider web maze. There will be:
- Saturday marshmallow roasting over an open fire
- petting zoo
- new bird display cases by Bob Newton
- hands-on activities and bee coloring packet
- free seeds to start a mini prairie patch
- Frisbee Golf course.
Next door at Heritage Canyon, 515 4th Street, historical interpreters will bring the late 19th century to life, also from 1:00 to 4:00. Visit the 11 buildings during both days.
