American Red Cross Recognizes 2016 Donors

BeHeroThe need for blood is real. Giving blood is one of the most selfless acts an individual can do. The hour it takes to give blood can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical need. You could save up to three lives with each of your donations!  Each and every day, patients across the Country rely on volunteer blood donations when receiving healthcare. Cancer patients, trauma victims, surgery patients, and others may need donated blood products.

Don’t let spring showers stop you from donating blood! American Red Cross blood drives are held at the Robert Fulton Community Center, 912 4th Street, Fulton, IL, two times each month.

  • The second Tuesday drive is from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m.
  • The fourth Tuesday drive is from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
  • The next blood drive at this location is Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Many people have donated blood through the American Red Cross at the Robert Fulton Community Center. The following donors have achieved donation milestones over the past year.

First time donors are Kaylah Greul, Levi Wheelock, Andrea Gomez, Julia Reiman, and John Bates.

One gallon donors are Joyce Hamstra, Laurie Vos, Thomas Crider, Makayleigh Rodgers, Ralph Beidler, Kelly Dalrymple, Regina Lehman, Ashley Huebner, Steve Wagner, Tina Rodgers, Becky Mallory-Meurs, Jessica North, Jennifer Schumacher, and Stephanie Melvin.

Two gallon donors are Darlene Clarke, Wayne Schoel, Tracy Terrock, Susan Eagle, Donna Holste, Steven Tegeler, David Eggers, Patrick Hayes, Connie Dell, and Robert E. Smith.

Three gallon donors are Richard Feddersen, Nathan Gravert, and Dave Prins.

Four gallon donors are Ken Springer, Debora Gosnell, and Leigh Houzenga.

Five gallon donors are Robert Hoffman and Annette Munck.

Six gallon donors are Ken Banowetz, Sharon Lanning, Barbara Widder, and Eugene Kopp.

Seven gallon donors are Rita Schneider, Richard Griebe,l and Steven Guidebeck.

Eight gallon donors are Pam Swanson, Lyle Knutsen, and Betty Banowetz.

Nine gallon donor is Robert Krajnovich.

Ten gallon donors are Mary Boelkens, Karen Fanderclai, and Robert Houzenga

Eleven gallon donor is Theresa Stahl.

Twelve gallon donors are Martha Wood, Penny Wagoner, and Gwen Smith.

Thirteen gallon donors are Sheila Huzenga and Ross Burns.

Fifteen gallon donor is John Stack.

Seventeen gallon donor is Stan Von Thun.

Eighteen gallon donor is Eugene Eggers.

Ninteen gallon donor is Samuel Steines.

Twenty-three gallon donor is Louise Lorenzen.

Twenty-five gallon donor is Eugene Roling.

Twenty-eight gallon donors are Harold McClure and Steve Simmons.

Thirty-one gallon donor is Dean Stone.

Heinz Hehlke and Pat Zirkelbach were also milestone achievers.

William Abbott donated 45 gallons over his lifetime of donating blood. He has now retired from donating. His wife, Betty Abbott, donated 38 gallons of blood in the years before she passed away, in December 2016. That is a whopping 83 gallons of blood donated between them, one pint at a time! Each donation can help three people. By their donations of 664 pints, the Abbotts have most likely helped 1992 people with their precious gift of blood.
