Morrison residents Jim and Ann Camp have traveled through scores of interesting countries on six-of-the-seven continents. They rate their travel from Argentina to Antarctica as one of their top-five trips.

“We were awed at the size of some of the floating ice we saw, and the region was a bird watcher’s paradise,” said Jim Camp about their November 2010 trip.

The Odell Public Library Friends will host the Camps for a travel program, “Amazing Voyage:  Argentina to Antarctica,” on Thursday, April 27, 2017, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Program Room. The Camps will share their wonderful, and occasionally unsettling, experiences visiting the southern-most reaches of the Earth.

Their trip

  • began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they enjoyed a tango show and historical sites
  • continued south for a tour of the tip of Argentina
  • followed with a ship voyage to Antarctica, through some of the most dangerous waters in the world
  • culminated in a captivating tour of areas of the vast continent of the South Pole.

The Camps will discuss some fascinating facts about Argentina, as well as Antarctica–one of the few areas of the world regulated by a multi-Country treaty. Nearly 150 photos capture the majesty of the region.

“Ann and I take turns on deciding where we’ll go next,” added Jim Camp. “When I suggested Antarctica, she said, ‘Are you crazy!’ We have no regrets though; it was an unforgettable experience for both of us.”

Reservations for this free travel program are appreciated but not required. Please call the Odell Public Library at 815-772-7323.
