Allen Harksen, 78, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Allen was born September 24, 1937, in Clinton, IA, to Delbert and Marian (Sleeper) Harksen. He graduated in 1956 from Clinton High School in Clinton. Allen served in the United States Army. He married Janet Wilkens on April 11, 1960, in Clinton. He was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring in 1996. was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; two daughters, Teresa (David) Bartels of Fulton, IL, and DeeAnna Harksen of Chadwick, IL; five grandchildren, Corey Anderson, Colin Anderson, Cassie Heusinkveld, Candyce Haag, and Colton Haag; four step-grandchildren, Erik (Karla) Bartels, Conner (Susie) Bartels, Britta (Tyler) Brannon, and Joshua (Rande) Bartels; four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randall Harksen; two sisters, Helen Harksen and Evelyn Schuette.
