albert mclainAlbert McLain, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton, IA.

Al was born November 23, 1929, in Rock Falls, IL, to Edward and Sarah M. (Williams) McLain. He was educated in the Rock Falls and Thomson, IL, grade schools. Al was a veteran of the Korean War. He first married Jean M. Bentley on July 21, 1951, in Rola, MO. She died July 23, 1989. He later married Deanna Rick-Williams on December 21, 1993, in Lyndon, IL. In the early 1950’’s, Al owned a grocery store in Clinton. He later owned and operated for over 60 years, Al’s Meat Market, in Morrison. He was a member of the Thomson American Legion and the VFW in Clinton. He attended Morrison United Methodist Church. Al loved fishing and working; he had a passion for working with the public.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna; two sons, Alan (Bernice) McLain of Fulton, IL, and Stephen (Sharon) McLain of Morrison; two step-daughters, Amanda (Mike Schoenig) Williams of Savanna, IL, and Krista (Dale) Beckner of Ofalon, IL; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Jordan, Jason McLain, Roger Rowe, Joey (Abby Lucas) Rowe, Nicole (Scott) Shepard, Brandon Engelkens, Susanna Williams, Miranda Beckner, Nathanial Beckner; three sisters, Sylvia Miller of AZ, Connie (Leslie) Green of Sabula, IA, and Mary Alice (John) Smith of Sabula; three brothers, Arthur (Marianne) Wright of Rock Falls, George (Linda) Wright of Rock Falls, and Martin Wright of Lyndon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean; one son, Richard “Butch” McLain; one brother, Gene McLain, in infancy; one half-brother, Robert Wright.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor at Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  9:30 a.m., until the time of the service, Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Morrison chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Oakland Cemetery, Clinton, IA

A memorial has been established to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, for cancer and Alzheimer’s research.
