Alan R. Walters, 75, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, January 27, 2020, at his home.
Alan was born July 12, 1944, in Morrison, to John E. and Ruth (Paith) Walters. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1962 graduate of Morrison High School. Alan worked at Vend-Omack in Morrison, delivered Quad-City Times newspapers around town, and worked at The Coliseum Skating Rink in Morrison. He then worked as a mechanic for Barney’s Service Station in Morrison for over 35 years and later worked at Hunter’s Auto Body in Morrison until retiring in 2016. Alan was a member of the Morrison Fire Department for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR and loved feeding the squirrels in his yard.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Shawn) Swaim of Morrison; sons, Dean Walters of Sterling, IL, Chris (Ann) Walters of Sterling, and Nick (Tonya) Walters of Fenton, IL; eight grandchildren, Brayden, Koltin, and Kinsley Swaim, Damon Walters, Rylie Walters, Damon Starr, Danny Willis, and Alissa Willis; five great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kaleb, Tian, Melody, and Jace; sister, Jerry Ann Ashby of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughters, Nevaeh Swaim and Anna Willis; a brother in infancy.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020, at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, IL.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established by the family.
