Alan R. “Big Al” Gravert, 68, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Alan was born August 7, 1955, in Clinton, IA, to Ralph A. and Rose E. (Johnson) Gravert. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1973. Alan dedicated 36 years of his life to Dairy Pak, retiring in 2010. In his later years, he found joy and fulfillment working at Sullivan’ Foods grocery store in Morrison. His warm smile and friendly presence not only became a staple in the community but also reflected how much he enjoyed connecting with and visiting everyone he encountered. In his free time, Al cherished time spent with his family, proving to be a devoted supporter throughout their lives. As his grandchildren entered the picture, he loved attending their sporting events and activities.
Survivors include three children, Todd (Sarah) Gravert of Clinton, IA and Tim (Amber) Gravert of Iowa City, IA and Trista (Ryan) Nelson of Morrison, IL; eleven grandchildren, Ty, Ben, Luke and Cody Gravert, Paige, Ashlyn and Noah MacGrath and Cailee, Cierra, Jhett and Judd Wright; one sister, Sharon (Pierre) Potvin of Morrison, IL; three brothers, Dennis (Madonna) Gravert of Janesville, WI, Marc Gravert of Fulton, IL and Kent (Kim) Gravert of Peoria, IL; many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Andre Potvin.
His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rich Criss, Ministry Coordinator of Emmanuel Church in Morrison, IL, officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established.
