Alan J. Dykstra, 54, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at his home.
Alan was born February 18, 1961, in Clinton, IA, to John J. and Arlene (Feldt) Dykstra. He was educated in the Prairie Center and Union Grove Grade Schools of rural Whiteside County and was a 1979 graduate of Morrison High School. Alan was employed by Mac’s Body Shop in Morrison and Penberthy Manufacturing in Prophetstown, IL, and most recently was engaged in farming in rural Morrison. Alan was awarded the U.S.D.A. Conservation Farmer of the Year in 2009 for Whiteside County. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include one daughter, Angie (Brian) Waugh of Bettendorf, IA; one son, David Dykstra of Morrison; four grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Addison, and Quinn Waugh; his mother, Arlene Dykstra of Morrison; one sister, Marcia (Larry) Heinitz of Morrison; one brother, Michael (Cindy) Dykstra of Manhattan, IL; his faithful dog, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Dykstra.
