On Thursday, September 12, 2013, the City of Morrison Special Council Meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. in the lower-level Conference Room of City Hall, 200 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL. The speedy meeting adjourned at 7:02.
Mayor Everett Pannier, City Clerk Melanie Schroeder, and seven Aldermen attended: Curt Bender, Scott Connelly, Dale Eizenga, Dave Helms, Marti Wood, and Harvey Zuidema. Michael Blean was unavailable.
Two interested parties, Morrison Community Hospital (MCH) Marketing Director Mike Welding and Betty Steinert, made no Public Comment.
There was one item for Consideration and Possible Action. On Saturday, October 5, MCH Foundation’s Big Squeeze Committee will host its “Run for the Roses, Kentucky Derby” fundraiser at the Whiteside County Fairgrounds, 201 W. Winfield Street. KJ’s Bar & Grill owner Kent Shepard will serve alcoholic beverages. The request for a one-day Special and Limited Use Permit Liquor License needed to be approved at this meeting, to give Shepard time to file a request for a State of Illinois liquor license.
If the request were made at the Monday, September 23, Council Meeting, there would not be time for the State’s approval/license.
The decision was clear-cut, swift, and unanimously approved.
