Chocolate Stout cupcakesIn honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17, 2014, several food and beverages choices will be offered in Morrison, IL, from east-to-west and north-to-south.  Choose corned beef and cabbage meals, reuben sandwiches, desserts, and beverages with a nod to the Irish. 

Below are 15 options, several of which are available now and more often than only March 17.  Call to place carry-out orders.

 

Baked by Liz, 119 E. Main Street, 815-772-2253:  Dark Chocolate Stout and Chocolate Mint cupcakes; Irish Cream Brownie coffee (latte or cappuccino); novelty desserts with a St. Patrick’s Day theme displayed in a new case

The Church of St. Anne will host a community St. Patrick’s Day Dinner on Saturday, March 15, in the City of Morrison Community Room of the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street.  Included for $8 are corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, rolls, coffee or tea, and dessert.  The optional Children’s Menu is a hot dog, chips, punch, and cake.  There is no charge for youngsters age 6 and under.  Serving time is 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., with take-out dinners available.

Fat Boy’s, 201 E. Main Street, 815-772-3978:  corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage meal; reuben sandwiches (with or without fries); green beer

First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Lincolnway, 815-772-3510:  corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage meal; soda bread; desserts; drinks from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.  Proceeds go to the Yucatan Peninsula Mission project.

 Happy Joe’s, 109 W. Main Street, 815-772-7840:  reuben sandwiches (with chips or potato salad) served every day

Hero’s Tap, 208 E. Main Street, 815-772-8770:  a specialty drink will be served

Morrison Community Hospital Cafeteria, 303 N. Jackson Street, 815-772-4003:  corned beef and cabbage meal with potatoes and carrots, Men’s Delight salad; soup and salad bar; French bread; Key Lime pie.  Meat loaf may be substituted for the corned beef.  Serving times are 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Movie Magic/Stars Pizza, 633 E. Lincolnway, 815-772-8780:  “Cagney” pizza is a reuben with sauerkraut; Scouts’ Honor and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream flavors

Sullivan’s Foods, E. Route 30 and N.
