From Thursday, November 21, through Sunday, November 24, 2013, a Chicago, IL, professional dance company will take to the stage in honor of the late Anne Petersen of Morrison, IL. She died Saturday, May 18, from unexpected medical complications.
“With Both Feet” will be held at Links Hall, 3111 N. Western Avenue, Chicago, beginning at 7:00 p.m. each evening.
Purchase tickets by calling 773-209-1474 or from the Innervation Dance Cooperative website. General admission is $20; students and Senior Citizens pay $15.
Several members of Innervation Dance Cooperative have been selected by the choreographer of the special piece. Sunny Kallas will share her inner vision of a memorial tribute dance for her inspiring instructor. Completing the circle, she will wear one of Petersen’s dresses for the event. One can almost visualize Petersen smiling from the wings, as she did during 33 years of recitals.
Area residents have begun to fill a van to attend the performance on Friday, November 22, because Petersen’s daughter Patti Austin of Riverton, IL, will attend that evening. Call Kallas’s mother, Jill Kaufman, by Monday, November 18, to reserve a seat on the shuttle. She advises calling soon, as several seats have been reserved. Others are invited to carpool and follow the shuttle van on the trek to the northwest side of Chicago. Kaufman estimated drive time is less than two hours. Reach her at 815-499-1839.
Kallas was graduated from Illinois State University, Bloomington, IL, with a Dance and Theater major. Since then, she lives her dream as a professional dancer and choreographer. Within the upcoming program are other expressions of Kallas’s dance design.
Innervation Dance Cooperative performs throughout the Chicago area and gives a lot of time to those communities. It is a not-for-profit performance organization. Kallas is shown leaping beside Lake Michigan, ninth from the left.
