Webelos II members are fourth and fifth graders, ages 11-to-12, stated Shane Adams.

Morrison Webelos II members–standing at the symbolic bridge left-to-right–are Rylen Unger, Isaiah Blasdell, Joey Wilson, Aaron Hall, Owen Mussman, and Brodie LarsenAndrew Melton was unable to attend his cross over ceremony.  Mike and Miranda Unger are the den leaders.

The evening began with a 6:00 p.m. potluck supper at Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.

Adams explained the significance of the Order of the Arrow, a prestigious Boy Scout group that conducted the cross-over ceremony and welcomed the new members.  “The Order of the Arrow is like the National Honor Society of Boy Scouting,” he noted.

There are six levels:

  • Tigers–first grade
  • Wolves–second grade
  • Bears–third grade
  • Webelos–fourth and fifth grades
  • Arrow of Light
  • Boy Scouts.

Morrison Cub/Boy Scout programs need male or female adult volunteers and new youth members.  In addition, a Cub Master position must be filled.  Scout meetings are held at MUMC.

Contact Serina Blasdell at 563-212-9198 for information about Boy Scouting.  Ask her how to become a volunteer or to register your son for the program.

The annual service project, “Scouting for Food,” will be Saturday, April 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  This collection drive assists the Morrison Friends Food Pantry.  Scouts will be stationed at Sullivan’s Foods, 300 N. Madison Street, and Dollar General, 633 E. Lincolnway, Morrison.  The public is encouraged to bring non-perishable food, paper products, and/or cash to donate.
