Mailbox Mishap

“It was an accident,” stated a Morrison, IL, United States Postal Service staffer, describing damage done to two outside drop boxes.  About 9:30 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, a commercial delivery truck collided with the pair.  “They’re both done,” he explained.  “We’re in the process of getting both back up.  At least one will be functional by the end of day,” he concluded.

That was correct.

These boxes are convenient to drivers who do not wish to exit their vehicle or who drop off items after business hours.  For years they stood to the west of the Post Office on N. Orange Street.  A convenient drive-in section of roadway allowed access.

Postmaster Bill Borum reported on Friday, January 22, that a USPS maintenance crew had arrived from Cedar Rapids, IA, to make repairs.  One box was secured and is available for service.

Look for a companion box to be installed soon.
