Mustangs Recover for Win

The Sherrard, IL, Tigers entered the game Tuesday night, January 19, 2016, against the Morrison Mustangs with only five wins.  But in the opening quarter they looked bigger, as they downed four three-pointers and ended the period with a 19-8 advantage.  The Mustangs held the Tigers to only two second quarter field goals.  Ben Brackemyer downed four baskets in the lane.  The half ended with the Tigers still on top 30-24.

The Mustangs upped the half court pressure after the break.  They were able to cut another three points off the margin and entered the final quarter down 43-40.  The trapping half court pressure took its toll in the fourth.  Sherrard struggled with ball movement.  Morrison offense patiently found Noah Hogue and Ryan VanZuiden thorugh holes in the defense.  The Mustangs held on for a 52-48 Trac 8 Conference win.

Hogue led all scorers with 15 points and had support from VanZuiden with ten and Brackemyer with nine.

Sherrard      19 – 11 – 13 – 5 = 48
