Edward J. Stuart, 89, of Morrison, IL, died Friday December 11, 2015, at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL.
Ed was born February 14, 1926, in Morrison, to Henry J. and Cornelia (Rose) Stuart. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1944 graduate of Morrison High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, on the L.S.T. #1. On July 9, 1945, he married Harriett L. Fadden in Morrison. She died November 27, 2009. In his early years, Ed was employed as a meat cutter for the former Royal Blue Grocery Store in Morrison. Then, for a short period, he worked as a salesman for Eddie Schuler Chrysler Dodge in Morrison. He then worked for Mills Motors in Morrison for close to 22 years. Most recently he was employed by the City of Morrison, retiring in 1992. Ed was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison American Legion Post #328, Morrison VFW Post #8281, and Morrison Dunlap Lodge #321–AM & FM. He served as 4th Ward Alderman on the Morrison City Council for six years. Ed enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing tennis with his wife, and traveling with his wife.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice (Steve) Brunelle of New Hampshire, Carol (Dave) Attig of Illinois, and JoEllyn (Barry) Lovett of Hawaii; one son, Jerry (Barbara) Stuart of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, John Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stuart and Audrey Fadden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; one brother, Gerald Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Janice Stuart and Vella Fadden.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor, Morrison United Methodist Church
There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
