Christmas2011Editor’s note:  The first public opportunity to view progress at the Donnybrook Bakery Café was a Christmas Open House on November 20, 2011.  Four years have brought substantial changes since this photograph was taken.

Take a break from moving snow and sit by a fire, inside the cozy Donnybrook Bakery Café, 203 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, on Saturday, November 21, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Lunch begins at 11:00 a.m.  New seasonal items are on the menu, with the Donnybrook favorites.

  • Beef Stew and homemade Biscuit
  • homemade gluten-free Chili and Corn Bread
  • Donnybrook (corned beef panini-style/grilled sandwich) with cranberry fluff, cole slaw, or potato salad, pickle, and chips
  • Chicken Salad sandwich on Cranberry-Oat bread
  • Pecan Pie (with Vanilla Ice Cream if you choose)
  • items from the bakery.

“Baking items will be a treat!” stated owner Bob Vaughn.  “We’ll begin the fall season with delicious Cranberry Pecan Scones; wonderful pumpkin Doughnut Puffs, sprinkled with powdered sugar; Chocolate Chip Halloween cookies.”

 

Other baked goods include:

  • Thanksgiving cookie
  • holiday biscotti
  • cranberry-pecan, chocolate chip, and apricot-white chocolate chip scones
  • cinnamon rolls
  • cranberry-orange muffins.

  

IrishCoffeeVaughn added, “New, seasonal drinks will be plentiful–both non-alcoholic as well as those for people who wish to imbibe.  Warn up with our popular Irish Coffee, using the finest Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey.”

Root for your team in either of two rooms while trying “our seasonal craft beers, including the newest Stella Cider.  Additional craft beers include four ‘Lagunitas’ manufactured in Chicago, IL.”  Other choices and wines are available.

“We grind our beans for every cup of coffee, including decaffeinated.  Taste our new holiday coffees:  Thanksgiving Dessert Mocha; Jack Frost Mocha; Peppermint  Mocha; Gingerbread Latte,” he added.

Other drinks on the menu include

  • regular and fall-flavored coffees
  • cocoa
  • a dozen hot or iced teas:  herbal, black, and green
  • strawberry, apple, and four-berry smoothies
  • the sunny, Mango Dragonfly Chai.
