Halloween at the Donnybrook 8:00 to 6:00

DonnyHalloweenThe day we call Halloween derives its roots in Celtic Ireland, with the origin of carving turnips and lighting them with candles on doorsteps.  The custom was exported to the United States, but gave way to carving pumpkins.  It seems Americans never found holiday pleasure in turnips!

Celebrate “All Hallows Day” day at Donnybrook Bakery Café, 203 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, on Saturday, October 31, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Lunch begins at 11:00 a.m.  Turnips are not on the menu, but enjoy any of these Donnybrook favorites:

  • Chicken and Buttermilk Biscuits (chicken pot pie)
  • homemade gluten-free Chili and Corn Bread
  • Donnybrook (corned beef panini-style sandwich) with cole slaw or potato salad, pickle, and chips
  • Chicken Salad sandwich on Cranberry-Oat bread
  • a warm dish of Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream
  • items from the bakery.
