First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL will host this program about ongoing volunteer assistance in the village of Leona Vicario, Mexico. This outreach is called Yucatan Peninsula Mission (YPM.)
Directors of YPM are on their first visit to the United States from Mexico. Husband and wife Wilian and Early Cen will give a presentation at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015.
How does Morrison, IL, build a high school in the Yucatan Peninsula? First Presbyterian, Morrison United Methodist Church, and other community members repeatedly have taken on a weekly, summer mission to assist Mexican villagers. The school-in-progress will be the first in a one-hour’s radius.
First Presbyterian has taken people from Morrison on three trips to YPM: in 2009, 2012, and 2014. Members from 2014, below left, are crafting desks. Brick walls werebuilt by the team of 2012. Morrison volunteers will return in 2016.
